The Brief
To design, research and interpret an original computer game character’s prop based on an existing concept of a sci-fi weapon from the Starwars – Old Republic Universe. Propose and provide supporting design for it as a viable collector’s item concept, readied for marketing and small scale production as a collector’s prop.


The Process
I began sketching a full scale drawing just to get the proportion right. When the team finally felt that every details is balanced and comfortable that I proceeded to draft the designs in Fusion 360. At the various R&D stages I worked very closely with my electronic partner, where the key considerations for the product to become fitted with mechanical functions like lightings and sound effects have to be constantly checked and validated relentlessly. We did all the electronic and functional researching as well after the main design drawing is derived.

The Outcome
It took about a week for me to have the first drawing, and after four to five iterations, CAD works and iterations took about one month, we finalised the first version. The conceptual drawings turns out to be quite simple in construction and we look forward to have further innovations and to build it into a testing prototype with 3D printing. However due to cost constraints for the project, it was shelved while we source for further fundings.
